Choosing Amenities: Four-Star versus Five-Star
How guest expectations shift between tiers, and how to compose an amenity programme for each.

The difference between a four-star and a five-star amenity programme is rarely the number of items. It is the depth of the experience: the weight of a bottle in the hand, the complexity of a fragrance, the precision of the packaging and the consistency with which every room is presented.
Four-star properties benefit from durable, efficient choices. Refillable dispensers with a clean, fresh scent, a well-designed soap bar and essential vanity items offer excellent value while supporting sustainability goals. A tasteful label carrying the hotel logo goes a long way toward making the selection feel personal.
Five-star properties should treat amenities as part of the brand story. Prestige partner lines, layered fragrances with top, heart and base notes, bespoke ceramic or glass vessels, and premium slippers with custom embroidery all signal care. Here, the goal is not just to supply a guest, but to give them something they will remember and look for again.
